Key to Success #1 – Dredge Those Wings

Hmmmm, maybe I should have put flour on those wings.

Either way, one of the keys to getting crispy chicken wings is to flour them up right from the start.

I like to use a simple mix of flour and salt, but you can add other seasonings to the flour mixture if you want.

If you like things extra spicy, a bit of Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning would be a really nice touch.

Key to Success #2 – Place The Wings in a Single Layer

I have a Cozyna XL 5.8 QT Air Fryer and I can fit 12 wings at a time in my Air Fryer basket.

If you’re looking to buy an Air Fryer, I recommend an XL model just because you won’t have to make as many batches when you’re cooking.

Don’t forget to check out the 5 best non-toxic air fryers that don’t cause cancer.

And I recommend the Cozyna specifically because it’s been a great machine – easy to use, works great, easy to clean.

It’s dishwasher-safe but I always hand-wash mine because it just takes a second.

And a great tip from my sister-in-law – put a paper towel in the bottom of your air fryer below the basket to catch any drips!

Regardless of what model you have, I recommend lightly spraying your chicken wings with extra-virgin olive oil before cooking.

I have these nifty spray bottles that I use to spritz my food with EVOO.

Each spritz of the spray bottle delivers only about 1/4 of a teaspoon of oil so you are really not adding a lot of oil.

A little oil goes a long way toward crisping up your air fried chicken.

Key to Success #3 – Make Your Own Buffalo Sauce … and make plenty

You won’t believe how easy it is to make your own buffalo sauce!

The “recipe” is simply 1 part melted butter to two parts hot sauce.

The butter makes the sauce silky smooth.

Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings with Ranch Dressing

You can use your favorite hot sauce.

We like to use Texas Pete Hot Sauce. You could also use Frank’s Red Hot or whatever you prefer.

For two pounds of crispy buffalo chicken wings, 3 tablespoons of melted butter + 6 tablespoons of hot sauce are more than enough.

You’ll have plenty for tossing the wings and some leftover for dipping or dunking.

These Crispy Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings are great served with the traditional blue cheese dressing.

All we had was ranch dressing and that worked perfectly as well.
