Cheese and Apple Pie Cups

Key to Success #1 – Make The Cheesy Apple Pie Spice Mixture

The cheesy apple pie spice mixture is a mix of sugar, cinnamon, and crushed Cheetos Puffs.

I put my Cheetos Puffs into a gallon-sized plastic baggie then let one of the kids crush up the Cheetos with a rolling pin.

If you don’t have Cheetos Puffs, you can substitute Cheddar Cheese Flavored Puff-n-Corn or Planters Cheez Balls.

May I be so bold as to suggest some Flaming Hot Cheetos in these Apple Pie Cups?

If you try it, let me know how you like it.

Key to Success #2 – Coat the Biscuits

The biscuits for this recipe are the standard-sized Pillsbury canned biscuits that you find in the refrigerated case of your local supermarket.

You do not want the larger-sized Grands biscuits.

I’ve most often seen the standard-sized canned biscuits sold in a pack of two rolls.

First, separate the biscuit dough into 12 individual biscuits.

Next, use your fingers to stretch them and smooth them out slightly until they’re the right size to fit into your muffin pan.

This one from USA Pans is my favorite!

Then dip those pretty babies into the melted butter before pressing them into the cheesy apple pie spice mixture.

Be sure to coat both sides!

After the biscuits are coated well, press each one into an ungreased muffin cup.

I do not recommend using muffin cup liners because the biscuits will come up to the very top of the muffin cups and maybe even slightly over so.

It would just make a big mess between the liners and the cups.

Key to Success #3 – Fill Them Up with Apple Goodness

After you have your muffin cups lined with biscuits, you’ll start adding the apple pie filling.

If using a 20-ounce can of apple pie filling, you should expect to use the entire can.

Just evenly divide the pie filling between all the cups.

The last step before baking is to sprinkle the reserved cheesy apple pie spice mixture over the top of the apple pie mixture as a cheesy topping.

If you have any leftover melted butter, I highly recommend drizzling the extra butter over the topping.

This adds just a little extra YUM to your Cheese and Apple Pie Cups.
