Key to Success #1 – Soften the Cream Cheese
The first thing to keep in mind with this BBQ Potato Chip Dip is that the cream cheese should be at room temperature before you start.
You want your dip to be silky smooth and softening the cream cheese is the way to achieve this.
Let the cream cheese soften on the countertop for about 30 minutes then use an electric mixer to whip the cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth.

Key to Success #2 – Use Real Mayonnaise
This delicious dip calls for real mayonnaise.
I do not recommend substituting Miracle Whip or a lite mayo for the mayonnaise in this recipe.
In fact, I prefer Hellman’s Real Mayonnaise.
I think it has the richest flavor of any of the commercially prepared mayonnaise that’s available today.
You could make your own mayonnaise if you’d prefer.
I chose to use Hellman’s just because I like to keep things quick and easy when I have company coming over.

Key to Success #3 – Add Flavor with BBQ Sauce
I highly recommend Head Country Original BBQ Sauce in this potato chip dip recipe.
If you use another sauce that is sweeter than Head Country, I’d recommend tasting the dip before you add the sugar to see if it needs more sweetness.
This BBQ Potato Chip Dip doesn’t taste exactly like BBQ sauce and it doesn’t taste like mayonnaise.
It just tastes like a rich and flavorful chip dip that is sure to become a family favorite.
