Party Punch with Colored Ice Cubes

Colored Ice Cube Punch is a super easy yet cute party punch idea. Freeze the orange, grape or strawberry soda in ice cube trays then pour Sprite over the top. It’s that simple to have a delicious party punch. I’m sharing the keys to success.

These drinks would be perfect for summer.

The colors are so pretty and vibrant that you could use it for many different types of parties or just a family pool day.

Key to Success #1 – Freeze In Advance

This party punch is so easy that you can almost forget about it, but you do want to keep in mind that you’ll have to freeze the colored ice cubes in advance!

At least 4 hours before the party, and preferably the night before, pour the orange, grape, and strawberry soda into separate ice cube trays and stick them in the freezer.

You’ll want to use separate ice cube trays so that you won’t mix the colors.

You can pick up some standard plastic ice cube trays at your local dollar store or at your grocery store if you don’t already have some.

If you’re feeling a little extra, you can find some fancy shaped ice cube trays like these cat faces or these hearts and stars or pretty much any other shape that you can dream up.

It would be super cute to make your ice cubes match your party theme.

Key to Success #2 – Pick the Perfect Party Cup

Perfect party cups for punch usually hold about 9 ounces of punch at a time.

You can get clear plastic cups that fit the bill pretty cheaply but there are also a lot of other fun options out there.

If you’re having a Hawaiian Luau Party, these Aloha cups are perfect.

They also have some with gold or silver rims if you’re having a fancy shindig.

You can also find colored party cups at your local party store or on Amazon.

One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll want to find cups that are short and wide versus tall and skinny.

This will give you more surface area to really let the pretty colors of your ice cubes shine through.

You can also find rainbow straws for your party punch. It would be so cute to stick a rainbow straw or another party-themed straw in each cup.

Cute and useful. That’s a win!

Key to Success #3 – One Color Per Cup

It’s very important that you only put cubes of a single color into each cup.

If you put two or three different colors, they’ll eventually melt.

And when they melt, the colors will combine into a brownish hue.

To avoid brown drinks, just put ice cubes of single color into each cup.

Because the ice cubes will melt, it’s best to put them into the party cups right at serving time.

I put my colored ice cubes in an insulated ice bucket before the party but they are softer than normal ice cubes and some of the colors rubbed off on the other ice cubes.

It still worked great but keep in mind that this could happen.

I used some little tongs to grip the ice cubes and transfer them to the cups.
