Spicy Ranch Pretzels

Key to Success #1 – Use Your Favorite Pretzels

We went with Pretzel Sticks in this recipe, but you can really use any pretzel shape.

The Spicy Ranch Pretzel recipe works just as well with mini pretzel twists or butter snaps.

You can even use the larger pretzel twists if that is what you have on hand.

I think the pretzel sticks are great because you can just grab a handful and go.

Key to Success #2 – The Secret Ingredient

The seasoning blend on these spicy pretzels is a packet of Fiesta Ranch dressing mix, garlic, cayenne pepper, and lemon pepper.

The lemon pepper is the ace in the hole in this recipe.

The citrus notes really bring the flavors together to make these Spicy Ranch Pretzels truly unforgettable.

We’re also using the Hidden Valley Fiesta Ranch Dip mix instead of the original Ranch flavor.

The Fiesta Ranch mix has flavors of chipotle, tomatoes, and onions along with the ranch flavoring.

It’s a strong choice to really add a nice flavor profile to your pretzels.

If you can’t find it, you can use the original Ranch dressing mix as an easy substitute.

Mix the ranch dressing mix and spices with some vegetable oil.

Equal amounts of canola oil, popcorn oil, or melted butter will work just as well in this recipe.

Add the pretzels to a gallon-sized zip-top plastic baggie then pour the spiced oil into the bag.

Tightly close the bag and shake well to coat the pretzels in the spices.

Key to Success #3 – Bake For Extra Crunch

The Spicy Ranch Pretzels bake at a relatively low temperature of only 250 degrees F.

Be sure to preheat the oven while you are mixing up your spices.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper then pour the coated pretzels into it.

Spread the pretzels out then pop them into the 250 degree F oven.

These pretzels only need to be baked for about 15 minutes.

It’s long enough to toast the pretzels and ensure that the spices stick to them, but not long enough to burn them.

You’re really just trying to give the pretzels an opportunity to soak up the oil then dry out a bit so that they stay crunchy.

After 15 minutes, remove the pretzels from the oven and give them a good stir before turning them out onto a sheet of waxed paper to cool.

Be sure to spread the pretzels out so that they will cool quicker.

In about 30 minutes, they’ll be ready for your hungry crew to devour.

The secret to these spicy ranch pretzels is in that zesty lemon pepper seasoning.

It really takes things up a notch from traditional bar snacks and adds an amazing depth of flavor to every bite.

Serve them warm or at room temperature with your favorite dipping sauce – ranch dressing goes particularly well here – and enjoy!
