🔑 Key to Success #1 – Trust the Process – Keep Mixing!

When making Sugar Cookie Cake Pops, it is essential to keep mixing the ingredients to create a smooth, uniform dough.

The mixture of pre-made Frosted Sugar Cookies and cream cheese may seem lumpy and difficult to combine in the beginning.

But persistent mixing with your stand mixer is the key to achieving the desired consistency.

If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can use a hand mixer for this recipe.

By stirring the ingredients continuously, the lumps will gradually break down.

And the cream cheese will fully incorporate into the cookie crumbs.

If you stop mixing too soon, you may end up with crumbly or sticky dough.

Dough that is too sticky or too crumbly can make it challenging to shape the cake pops.

To combine the pre-made Frosted Sugar Cookies with cream cheese, throw the Frosted Sugar Cookies into the mixer whole then add the cream cheese.

The cream cheese acts as a binding agent and helps the cookie crumbs stick together, giving the cake pops a dense and moist texture.

While making the Sugar Cookie Cake Pops, it might take a few minutes of mixing for the dough to come together fully.

Don’t worry if the mixture looks dry or crumbly in the beginning as the cream cheese needs time to soften and blend with the cookie crumbs.

Keep stirring the dough, and eventually, it will start to clump together and form a thick, playdough-like consistency.

This is when you know it’s time to form the cake pops.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use A Little Melted Candy On The Stick for Extra Holding Power

Cake pops are delicious and fun to make, but many people struggle with getting the cake pops to stick to the lollipop stick.

To solve this problem, it is important to use a little melted candy melts on the stick before inserting it into the cake ball.

The candy melts act as glue and holds the cake pop securely in place, preventing it from falling off the stick.

The reason why melted candy melts work so well as glue is that they harden quickly after being melted.

As the candy melt cools and hardens, it creates a strong anchor that firmly holds the cake ball in place.

Additionally, the candy melts add a delicious flavor to the cake pop, enhancing the overall taste.

Using a little melted candy melts on the lollipop stick also ensures that the cake pop is evenly coated when dipped into a chocolate or candy coating.

Without the melted candy melts, the cake pop may tilt or fall off the stick when dipping into the coating.

This can be frustrating and time-consuming, as it may require remaking the cake pop.

By using the melted candy melts as a stabilizer, the cake pop will stay in place and be evenly coated, resulting in a perfect final product.

By following this simple step, you can ensure that your cake pops look and taste perfect every time.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Add Shortening to the Candy Melts for No Cracks

Sugar Cookie Cake Pops is a favorite dessert for many people, and making them is an enjoyable experience.

However, many people may find it challenging to make the perfect candy coating for their cake pops.

This is where adding shortening, also known as Crisco, to melted candy melts becomes crucial.

Adding shortening to your candy melts will help make the candy a little thinner, which is essential in preventing it from cracking as it cools.

When working with melted candy melts, it is common to encounter the issue of the candy cracking during the cooling process.

This can be frustrating, especially when you have spent so much time making your Sugar Cookie Cake Pops.

This is where shortening comes into play.

The addition of shortening to your candy melts can help make the consistency smoother and more even, which will enable the candy to coat your cake pops perfectly.

Another reason why it is crucial to add shortening to your melted candy melts is that it helps to lower the melting point.

The addition of shortening lowers the melting point of the candy melts, making them easier to work with.

This, in turn, makes it easier to create the perfect candy coating for your Sugar Cookie Cake Pops.

Also, shortening does not affect the taste of the candy melts, so you do not have to worry about altering the flavor of your delicious cake pops.

Yes! You can freeze the cake pops before coating them. Let them thaw before coating or they might crack the coating.
