Ingredients

For the make-ahead cake mix

  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix

For one mug cake

  • 3 Tbsp prepared cake mix
  • 2 Tbsp water

Directions

Make the cake mix

  • Whisk the dry angel food cake mix and dry chocolate cake mix together in a large bowl until evenly combined. Transfer to an airtight container.

Make one mug cake:

  • Add 3 tablespoons of the prepared mix to a large microwave-safe mug. Stir in 2 tablespoons of water until no dry mix remains.
  • Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Let the cake cool briefly before eating. Add whipped cream, powdered sugar, or another favorite topping if you like.

Notes

  • The boxed mixes are combined dry. Do not prepare either cake mix according to its package directions.
  • Store the remaining dry mix in an airtight container, following the earliest best-by date on the boxes.
  • This recipe was tested in both 800-watt and 1100-watt microwaves; 1 minute worked for both.
