Easter Rice Krispie Brownies

Directions

Bake the brownies

  • Preheat oven according to brownie mix directions. Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper or grease well.
  • Prepare both boxes of brownie mix according to package directions. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.Cool completely.

Make the frosting

  • In a large bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.Add heavy cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, until spreadable.
  • Spread evenly over cooled brownies.

Add nuts

  • Sprinkle chopped salted nuts evenly over the frosting.

Make the Rice Krispies topping

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
  • Place Rice Krispies in a large bowl. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and stir until evenly coated.

Assemble the top layer

  • Spoon Rice Krispies mixture over brownies and gently press into an even layer.

Decorate

  • Top with a few whole Cadbury eggs and sprinkle with the rest of the crushed Cadbury eggs.

Set and serve

  • Let set at room temperature for 30–60 minutes or refrigerate for 20–30 minutes for easier slicing.Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Mini Cadbury eggs work best for topping.
Chill before slicing for clean layers.
These are very rich — smaller squares go a long way.
You can substitute peanuts, pecans, or mixed nuts.
