Ingredients

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Add the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to a large bowl. Mix just until combined.
  • Press the seasoned ground beef evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
  • While the beef cooks, heat 1 tablespoon of melted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the cooked beef from the oven and carefully drain the grease.
  • Without separating the rolls, slice them horizontally through the center to create one connected top half and one connected bottom half.
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in a clean 9×13-inch baking dish. Carefully transfer the cooked beef onto the rolls. Spread the sautéed onions evenly over the beef, then arrange the cheddar cheese slices on top.
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese. Brush the tops with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake uncovered for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
  • Slice into individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ground beef: Lean ground beef helps reduce excess grease. Drain the beef well before assembling the sliders.
  • Cheese: American cheese, Colby Jack, or pepper jack can be substituted for cheddar.
  • Rolls: Hawaiian sweet rolls add a slightly sweet flavor, but regular dinner rolls also work.
  • Toppings: Serve with pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or burger sauce.
  • Browning: If the rolls begin browning too quickly, loosely cover the baking dish with foil.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer until warmed through.
