My mom would often get a box as a present on Christmas morning and she would sometimes share them with us kids.

Those chocolate-covered cherries inspired these yummy Chocolate Covered Cherry Brownies.

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Two Kinds of Chocolate in the Brownies

The rich brownie recipe gets two kind of chocolate so that it’s ultra chocolatey.

First, we’re melting together some butter and chocolate chips.

Then we’re adding in unsweetened cocoa powder for extra chocolate flavor then adding in sugar to balance the chocolate with some sweetness.

Add in the eggs and vanilla then stir in the dry ingredients.

Mix the dry ingredients only until everything is fully moistened.

You don’t want to overwork the flour and make the brownies tough.

Spread the brownie batter into a well-greased 9×13-inch baking pan.

Make sure you grease the pan well so that the brownies will release easily.

You can also line the pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Halve the Cherries

For these Triple Chocolate Cherry Brownies, we’re using candied cherries, sometimes called glace cherries.

You can find candied cherries in most grocery stores around the holidays.

If you have never used candied cherries, they are not the same as maraschino cherries.

They are real cherries that have been cooked down in a thick syrup.

They are often sold in small plastic containers and they are not refrigerated.

If you cannot find the candied cherries, you can substitute maraschino cherries.

Triple Chocolate Cherry Brownies

Slice the cherries in half using a small paring knife.

Sprinkle chocolate chips and the cherry halves over the brownie batter.

Finally, drizzle sweetened condensed milk all over the top of the cherries and chocolate chips.

Topping with sweetened condensed milk makes these brownies almost like Seven Layer Bars. So good!

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Let the Brownies Set Overnight

After the Chocolate Cherry Brownies come out of the oven, allow them to rest uncovered until they reach room temperature.

While the brownies are resting, the milk will soak in and make the brownies extra rich and fudgy.

Allow the brownies to rest overnight before cutting and serving.

You can leave the brownies on the countertop or you can put them in the refrigerator.

I prefer to serve the brownies at room temperature.

If you like cherries, you’re going to love these brownies!
