Air Fryer Bagel Bites

Key to Success #1 – Use Self-Rising Flour

For this bagel recipe, you will need some self-rising flour.

Self-rising flour allows your baked goods to rise without the need for yeast.

And without yeast, you won’t need to wait for your dough to rise before baking it.

If you only have all-purpose flour, you can use it to make self-rising flour.

To make self-rising flour, simply add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt for every cup of all-purpose flour.

Self-Rising Flour recipe!

1 cup all-purpose flour + 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder + 1/4 teaspoon of salt = 1 cup of self-rising flour

You can use this easy substitute if you don’t have self-rising flour on hand.

Combine the self-rising flour and yogurt together and stir until fully combined.

I just use a wooden spoon to stir the dough.

No need to get out the mixer for this easy recipe.

Key to Success #2 – Roll Bagel Balls Into Cinnamon Sugar

We’re adding extra flavor to our bagels with a little bit of cinnamon and sugar.

Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.

Divide the bagel dough into about 14 even pieces and roll each one into a ball.

Roll the balls of dough into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to fully coat it.

Finally, place the coated bagel balls into the greased air fryer basket.

Be sure to leave a little room between your dough balls so that your bagel balls can expand while they are cooking.

I have a 5.8 QT air fryer and all the bagel balls fit in my air fryer with plenty of room to spare.

If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to cook the bagel bites in batches.

Key to Success #3 – Stuff With Sweetened Cream Cheese

Before I start talking about the cream cheese, it’s important to keep in mind that you will need to allow the bagel bites to cool completely before you add the cream cheese filling.

And be sure to allow the cream cheese to soften so that it will be easier to mix with the powdered sugar.

Allow the cream cheese to soften on the countertop for at least an hour.

If you’re short on time, you can soften the cream cheese in the microwave by heating it on the defrost setting for about 30 seconds.

In a small bowl, use a spoon to mix the cream cheese with the powdered sugar.

Keep stirring until the sweetened cream cheese is smooth and creamy.

Fit a long, thin piping tip into a pastry bag then add the sweetened cream cheese.

Use a sharp knife to poke a hole in the side of each bagel bite then insert the piping tip and squeeze in some of the cream cheese mixture.

If you don’t have a pastry bag and a piping tip, you can slice the bagel bites and add the cream cheese filling with a small spoon.

Don’t worry, they will be just as good either way.
