Smile Toast is a great breakfast idea to make for your family and friends. We’re making breakfast special by making a smiley face out of our morning toast to make the recipient feel special and loved. This breakfast is so easy that a child can make it themselves or help you make it.

Smile Toast

In fact, my eleven-year-old son made this breakfast for me! The photos are the breakfast that he’d made.

Noah is my sweet, loving, and helpful eleven-year-old son.

Since his love language is acts of service, he just loves it when people do special things for him.

He is always looking forward to the weekends when he can get breakfast in bed, complete with some special touch that has been added to his place

This week we had three snow days where the kids had virtual school or no school and Noah turned the tables on us in a big way!

He made breakfast in bed for me and for his sister, including this Smile Toast!

Smile Toast

Key to Success #1 – Make it with Love

Whatever you do, do it with love.

“Do everything in love.”

1 Corinthians 16:14 (NIV)

No matter who you are planning to serve this Smile Toast to, you should customize the toast to their liking and make it special for them.

If one person loves bananas, go ahead and use the bananas for the eyes and the mouth.

But if they don’t like bananas, you can substitute things like apples or blueberries.

You really can’t mess up this Smile Toast recipe if you put things that the other person likes on it.

Just be sure to add the love and you will have yourself a winning recipe every time.

Key to Success #2 – Serve It in Bed So That You Can Connect and Talk

Once you’ve made your Smile Toast, it’s time to serve it to your favorite person.

Be sure to grab their favorite breakfast drink, whether it’s Sunny D, a coffee, or a Diet Coke.

Next, take the plate with the Smile Toast and the drink and sneak into their bedroom while they are asleep.

You can set the breakfast items down on their bedside table if they are not awake.

But hopefully, they will wake up after a minute.

And if you are really nice, maybe they will let you sit on their bed while they eat their Smile Toast.

You can talk to them about what you want to do today or maybe make some special requests since you have been so nice to make them breakfast in bed.

And don’t forget a napkin! They might need to wipe the honey from their fingers or their lips.

Smile Toast

Key to Success #3 – Always Have Fun

It’s super important to have fun while you are making the Smile Toast.

Love is a key ingredient after all.

If you are putting things on your Smile Toast that you know the person will love, then you will make them very happy with their breakfast.

You can have fun and practice doing things on your own.

But be careful and only use things like a butter knife that can’t hurt you or cut your fingers.

And if you make any messes, be sure to clean them up before you serve your toast because you don’t want your mom to have to find a big mess in the kitchen when she wakes up.

“Have fun making Smile Toast.”

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of honey wheat bread
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 2 tsp honey
  • a little bit of love

Instructions

  1. Toast both slices of wheat bread in the toaster until they are toasted to your desired shade, about 1-2 minutes. Place toast side by side on a plate.
  2. Use a butter knife to spread butter over both pieces of toast.
