Are you tired of wasting your day in the kitchen when you want to bake cookies?
Do you crave that perfect combination of crispy edges and a soft, gooey center?
The magic of the air fryer delivers delicious cookies in a fraction of the usual cooking time.
Say hello to the delicious world of air fryer pan cookies!

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Soften the Butter
One crucial element in achieving the perfect chocolate chip air fryer cookies is ensuring that your butter is softened to the right consistency.
Softened butter is easier to cream with both the white sugar and light brown sugar, allowing the simple ingredients to blend together smoothly and evenly in a mixing bowl.
To soften your butter, simply let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until it becomes soft and pliable to the touch.
Using melted butter is often a go-to shortcut, but it can yield a flatter and greasier cookie.
Softened butter, on the other hand, creates a more tender and melt-in-your-mouth texture that will have everyone begging for seconds.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use the Properly Sized Pan
Using a properly sized pan ensures that the pan cookies are the perfect thickness and have enough space to expand while baking.
If the pan is too small, the dough may be overcrowded, resulting in cookies that are too thick and doughy.
On the other hand, if the pan is too large, the dough may spread too thin and result in cookies that are thin and crispy.
For air fryer chocolate chip cookies, a pan with a diameter of 6 to 7 inches is generally recommended.
This size allows for optimal airflow around each pan cookie, promoting even baking and preventing any unwanted hotspots.
But be sure to make sure that your pan will fit in the basket of the air fryer if you have a basket-style air fryer.

Pizookies in the Air Fryer
An easy way to make cookies in the Air Fryer is to make them in a shallow baking pan.
That makes this a Pizookie – a Pizza Cookie. A Cookie in a Pizza Pan.
The pan is probably about 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep.
It worked perfectly for this Air Fryer Cookie Recipe.
I have also used an 8-inch cake pan and it works great as well.
The 8-inch cake pan fits perfectly in my air fryer too, but check your air fryer to see if it will work for you.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Watch the Baking Time
When it comes to baking perfect cookies in an air fryer, timing is everything.
Unlike a traditional oven, air fryers tend to cook food faster due to the rapid circulation of hot air.
Therefore, it’s essential to keep a close eye on your cookies to avoid overbaking or underbaking them.
The recommended baking time for air fryer chocolate chip cookies is around 10 to 12 minutes.
However, every air fryer is different, so it’s important to understand your specific model’s nuances.
Experimenting with a few test batches can help you determine the optimal baking time for your air fryer and desired pan cookie texture.

To begin, start by setting the timer for the lower end of the suggested baking time range, around 10 minutes.
Monitor the cookies closely as they bake.
Look for visual cues such as the edges turning golden brown and the center rising slightly.
If you prefer a chewier cookie, you may want to remove them from the air fryer closer to the 8-minute mark.
On the other hand, if you enjoy a crisper, more golden cookie, you can leave them in the air fryer for the full 12 minutes.
Keep in mind that the cookies will continue to firm up slightly as they cool, so it’s better to slightly underbake them if you prefer a softer texture.

🍪 Nothing Basic About This Cookie
I used my favorite Cookie Cake recipe for the basis for this Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.
The best cookies are made with room-temperature butter, not melted butter.
I’m just saying.
Then I took this wonderful cookie recipe and added chocolate chunks.
I had chocolate chips, but who doesn’t love the big chunks.
You can use chocolate chips, add nuts, substitute peanut butter chips or even white chocolate chips.
Go ahead and make these cookies your favorite.

💡 Tips and Tricks for Perfectly Golden Cookies
These additional insights will help you take your air fryer cookie game to the next level, ensuring each batch comes out with a golden, crispy exterior and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center.
- Use the right temperature: Each air fryer has its own temperature settings, so it’s crucial to preheat the air fryer to the recommended temperature for baking cookies. This will ensure even cooking and prevent any unnecessary under or over-baking.
- Line the cookie pan with parchment: Using a small piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the pan will help prevent the cookies from sticking and make removal much easier. This step is not necessary if you are planning to serve the cookie in the pan like a pizookie.
- Rotate the tray or basket: Air fryers can have hot spots, so to ensure all your cookies get that golden touch, rotate the tray or basket during baking. This will help distribute the heat evenly and produce more consistent results.
By following these tips and tricks, you’ll have a better chance of creating perfectly golden air fryer chocolate chip cookies that taste as heavenly as they look.
Experiment, adjust, and don’t be afraid to personalize your baking process.
I’d suggest checking your pan cookie after 10 minutes and then adding 2-3 minutes if needed because an underbaked chocolate chip cookie is the last thing you’d want.

❓ Can you use Refrigerated Cookie Dough in this recipe?
When it comes to using refrigerated cookie dough in this easy air fryer cookies recipe, it is possible to do so, with a few adjustments.
Firstly, it is essential to preheat the air fryer before placing the cookie dough into the air fryer basket for this small batch recipe.
Preheating helps to ensure that the cookies cook evenly and that the dough does not stick to the pan.
Additionally, flatten the cookie dough in the pan before placing it in the air fryer for best results, as this helps the cookies bake consistently.
Finally, the cooking time may need to be adjusted depending on the air fryer’s wattage and the thickness of the cookie dough.
I’ve found success with the Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookies in place of the homemade cookie dough in this recipe, but you’d have to experiment with other cookie dough brands.

I have the round silicone inserts for my air fryer. Do you think that would work as a substitute for the glass, as they do in the oven? Thanks!
Yes, you can use a silicone pan for this! I bet they will turn out delicious!
Oh, my goodness. These were amazing! Followed the recipe exactly. I split the dough and made chocolate chip bars and butterscotch chip bars in 3 cup rectangular glass dishes. I sprayed the dishes instead of using parchment paper. Now thinking of other combos: white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts; peanut butter chips and chopped peanuts; oh, my. So glad I came across your wonderful, easy recipe.
Great, accurate recipe. Followed recipe exactly. I prepared in my Cosori 5.8 qt, 1700 watt Air Fryer using an 8″ x 1″ pizza pan designed for air fryers. Buttered pan bottom & sides, lined bottom with cut to fit parchment paper & then buttered the parchment as well. 1st cookie @ 10 min, feared it was slightly under cooked but wasn’t after cool down in pan & then on cooling rack. 2nd cookie was in for 12-13 mins, had a little more crisp on surface but still chewy interior. No problem with releasing. Great texture, used allergy free mini chips. Thanks so much for sharing!
It was an easy recipe to follow and make. The timing for assembly and baking were mostly correct. Had to adjust timing based upon my air fryer. I had a quick and small portioned dessert in a fraction of the time.
Hello can you substitute the butter with olive oil?
I wouldn’t recommend substituting butter with olive oil. The butter and sugar need to be creamed together well to get some air into your cookie. I think you would not get the same result with olive oil. Sorry.
put in fridge to save and baked a while later and it was amazing
Love this idea, but is it really 1,100 calories per serving?! That can’t be right???
The 1,100 calories is for a whole pan cookie! You can split each pan cookie into 4 servings or even 6 servings if you have decent self control! ?
Great recipe! The only thing is that it was super brown on the outside and raw on the inside. I don’t know if I should lower the temperature and cook longer… (we still ate it all gooey.)
I think this sometimes happens when the pan is too small. There is too much batter and it doesn’t have time to fully cook through. I would try lowering the temp and cooking a bit longer. Or cook the dough in batches.
This is so easy and delicious! I didn’t use a pan lined my air fryer with Aluminum foil and baked all at 1 time. Family loved it.
That is a fantastic idea! Yummy.
I followed the directions exactly and even got help making it, but it still didn’t work out as it should have. It looked cooked on the outside, similar to the pictures, but the I side was just a big gooey mess. It tastes good, but it is completely raw. I even out it back into my air fryer and it still is not cooked through.
I’m sorry your Air Fryer cookie didn’t turn out. All air fryers cook differently so yours may have needed a bit more time to completely cook through.
So when I set “AirFryer”, am I using the Bake mode or Air fryer mode?
Our air fryer does not have a bake mode but I would suggest trying it with this recipe. Just check it for doneness and you might need to cook it a little longer. Let us know how it goes!
I didn’t read that it made 2 pan cookies until AFTER I had put it all in one pan. Ended up with a huge globby mess – I thought I had missed it in the instructions but I didn’t.
Thank you for letting me know that the instruction were not clear! I’ve updated the recipe.
Great recipe with clear instructions. Thank you.
Ehh. Just ok. Prefer oven baked.
