Ingredients You’ll Need
You don’t need anything fancy to make these Snowman Nutter Butter Cookies. Most of the ingredients can be found in the baking aisle or seasonal candy section of your grocery store.
- Nutter Butter cookies: The classic peanut-shaped sandwich cookies make the perfect snowman shape without any cutting or baking.
- White vanilla almond bark: Creates the smooth white coating that makes each cookie look like a snowman covered in snow.
- Mini chocolate chips: Two tiny chocolate chips make the snowman’s eyes. You can change their position to give each snowman a different expression.
- Carrot-shaped candy sprinkles: These make the cutest little orange noses!
- Chocolate jimmies sprinkles: Use these long chocolate sprinkles to make the snowman’s mouth.
- Red sequin sprinkles: These flat, round sprinkles make colorful buttons on the snowman’s coat.
- Green sequin sprinkles: Mix these with the red buttons for a festive Christmas look.

Can’t find carrot-shaped sprinkles? Check the seasonal baking aisle or craft store. I’ve even found carrot sprinkles in holiday reindeer sprinkle mixes and Easter bunny sprinkle assortments.

How to Make Snowman Nutter Butter Cookies
Making these no-bake snowman cookies is as simple as dipping Nutter Butter cookies in melted almond bark and adding candy decorations before the coating hardens.
I like to get all the sprinkles and candies ready before I start dipping. That way, everything is within reach when it’s time to give the snowmen their faces.
Step 1: Melt the White Almond Bark
Place the white vanilla almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on high for 1 minute, then remove the bowl and stir well. Continue heating in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the almond bark is completely melted and smooth.
Be careful not to overheat the almond bark. You want it smooth and easy to dip into, not thick or clumpy.
Step 2: Dip the Nutter Butter Cookies
Dip one Nutter Butter cookie completely into the melted white almond bark, making sure the cookie is covered on all sides.
Use a fork to lift the cookie out of the coating, then gently tap the fork against the edge of the bowl to remove the excess almond bark.
Place the coated cookie onto a sheet of waxed paper.
The white almond bark creates the perfect snowy background for your snowman’s face and decorations.
Helpful tip: Work with just a few cookies at a time. You want to add the candy decorations while the almond bark is still wet so everything sticks securely.
Step 3: Make the Snowman’s Face
Now comes the fun part: giving each snowman its own personality!
While the white almond bark is still wet, add two mini chocolate chips near the top of the cookie for the eyes.
Pay attention to the direction the chocolate chips are facing. By turning them slightly, you can make your snowman look up, look to the side, or stare straight ahead.
Next, place a carrot-shaped candy sprinkle just below the eyes to make the nose.
For the mouth, use a chocolate jimmie sprinkle. Look for one that curves upward to give your snowman a big smile.
You can also use several small pieces of chocolate jimmies to make a dotted mouth that looks like little pieces of coal.
I love making the snowmen with different expressions. Some end up smiling, some look surprised, and a few seem to have a little attitude!
Step 4: Add Earmuffs and Candy Buttons
Every snowman needs something festive to wear!
For the earmuffs, press two Red Hots candies onto the sides of the snowman’s head. You may need to hold each candy in place for a few seconds to help it stick.
Next, add red and green sequin sprinkles down the front of the snowman’s body to make the buttons on his coat.
Sequin sprinkles are the larger, flat, round sprinkles that often come in assorted colors.
Mix and match the red and green buttons or use one color for each snowman.
You can also substitute small M&M’s or additional Red Hots candies for the buttons if that’s what you have on hand.
Step 5: Let the Snowman Cookies Set
Leave the decorated Snowman Nutter Butter Cookies on the waxed paper until the white almond bark has completely hardened.
Once the candy coating is firm, carefully lift the cookies off the paper.
Your little snowmen are ready to add to a Christmas cookie platter, tuck into holiday treat boxes, or enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate!

Tips for Making the Cutest Nutter Butter Snowmen
These Christmas snowman cookies are easy to make, but a few simple tricks will help them turn out even better.
Prepare your decorations first. Sort out the chocolate chips, carrot sprinkles, chocolate jimmies, and candy buttons before melting the almond bark. It’s much easier to decorate when everything is ready to go.
Don’t overheat the almond bark. Melt it in short intervals and stir often. Overheated almond bark can become thick and difficult to use for dipping.
Remove the excess coating. Gently tap the fork against the side of the bowl after dipping each cookie. This helps keep the coating smooth and prevents large puddles from forming around the snowmen.
Decorate while the coating is wet. This is especially important! The candy eyes, noses, mouths, and buttons need to be added before the almond bark hardens.
Use tweezers or a toothpick for tiny decorations. Clean, food-safe decorating tweezers can help position small candy sprinkles exactly where you want them.
Make different facial expressions. Turn the chocolate chip eyes in different directions and use curved or straight chocolate sprinkles for the mouths. Every snowman can have its own personality.
Let the cookies harden before moving them. The decorations will be more secure once the coating is completely set.

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Cover the Cookies with ‘Snow’
The first step to making these delightful Snowman treats is to cover the Nutter Butter Cookies with melted white almond bark.
To make things easy, melt the almond bark in the microwave.
Follow the package directions for melting the almond bark.
Most of the time, you can microwave the almond bark on high for 1 minute then stir well.
Continue heating in 30-second intervals until the almond bark is fully melted and smooth.
Fully immerse the Nutter Butter into the almond bark then use a fork to remove it and tap off the excess.
Place the cookie onto a sheet of waxed paper to cool completely.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Give Mr. Snowman Some Personality
One of the fun things about putting these Snowman Cookies together is giving their faces a little personality.
The Snowman’s Eyes
The Snowman eyes are made from two mini chocolate chips.
Place the eyes on the snowman’s face, paying attention to the direction that the points on the chocolate chips are facing.
You can make your snowman look up or to the side just by how you place the eyes.
The Snowman’s Nose
The Snowman’s nose is a tiny carrot-shaped candy sprinkle.
You can find carrot sprinkles at your local grocery store or at a craft store.
I found the carrot sprinkles in a Holiday Reindeer Sprinkles mix at Wal-mart through the Wal-mart Grocery Pickup service.
You can also look for carrot-shaped sprinkles in the Easter sprinkles section.
The carrot sprinkles are often included in the Easter Bunny sprinkles mixes.
The Snowman’s Mouth
Mister Snowman’s mouth is made from chocolate jimmies sprinkles.
Sift through the sprinkles to find ones that are curved up like a smile.
Or down like a frown. Or straight across like a scowl.
You can also use several bits of the broken jimmies to make it look like a coal mouth like the snowman in the middle on the bottom row in the photo below.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Dress Him in His Christmas Best
Every good Snowman needs a festive outfit to wear.
We’re outfitting our Snowman Cookies with a pair of red earmuffs and some buttons for his coat.
The earmuffs are made from two Red Hots candies.
Press the Red Hots onto the side of the Snowman’s head.
You may need to hold the candies onto the snowman for a few seconds to make sure they stay put.
The Snowman’s buttons on his coat are made from red and green sequin sprinkles.
The sequin sprinkles are the ones that are shaped like large, flat discs.
They often come in a multi-color package.
Pick and choose which colors you would like to use to make some really cute Snowman Cookies.
You can also use Red Hots or M&M’s for the buttons.
Use your creativity and have a great time making these little cuties!

How to Store Snowman Nutter Butter Cookies
Once the white almond bark has completely hardened, place the decorated cookies in an airtight container.
Store them in a cool, dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.
If you need to stack the cookies, place a sheet of waxed paper between the layers to help protect the candy decorations.
For the best appearance and texture, I recommend making these cookies within a few days of serving them.
Can You Make Nutter Butter Snowmen Ahead of Time?
Yes! These no-bake snowman cookies are a convenient Christmas treat to prepare before a holiday party or cookie exchange.
You can even make them in stages by dipping and decorating a few cookies at a time.
Just make sure the candy coating is completely hardened before placing the finished snowmen in storage containers or holiday treat bags.
