Why I Love This Recipe
This dip is the perfect blend of creamy, cheesy goodness with a delightful crunch from the bacon and a fresh burst of flavor from the tomatoes and green onions.
It’s super easy to throw together, which means less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the party.
Plus, the aroma that fills the house while it bakes is simply irresistible!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here’s what you need to whip up this fantastic dip:
- Bacon: Cooked to perfection and crumbled for a deliciously smoky, crispy addition.
- Mayonnaise: Adds a rich, creamy texture. Make sure to use real mayonnaise for the best flavor.
- Sour Cream: Enhances the creamy consistency, bringing a slight tang to balance the richness.
- Cream Cheese: Gives the dip its smooth, luscious base. Make sure it’s softened for easy mixing.
- Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning: This is the secret to that classic ranch flavor!
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Shredded and mixed in, it adds a delightful, gooey cheesiness.
- Tomato: Seeded and chopped, it lends a fresh, slightly acidic note to cut through the richness.
- Green Onion: Finely diced, these add a pop of color and a mild oniony bite.
How to Make Ranch BLT Dip
Making Ranch BLT Dip is a breeze.
Follow these simple steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until completely smooth.
- Stir in the crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning packet, tomato, and green onion until just combined.
- Spread the mixture into the baking dish and bake uncovered for 20 minutes, until the dip is hot and bubbly.
- Top with additional crumbled bacon, diced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce if you want to make it extra special.

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Soften the Cream Cheese
My first tip is to let the cream cheese soften before mixing together the base for this easy cheesy dip.
You can let the block of cream cheese sit on the counter for 30 minutes to an hour until it is soft enough to mix easily.
I prefer to take the cream cheese out of the box but leave it in the wrapper, but either way will work if you have plenty of time.
If you’re in a hurry, you can speed things up in the microwave.
Remove the cream cheese from the foil wrapper and place it in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat the cream cheese on the defrost setting for 20-30 seconds until it is soft enough to mix easily.
You can also through the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise into a blender or use a hand mixer to blend until smooth.
By the time the other ingredients are added and the dip is fully baked, you will never be able to tell the difference.
🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use Real Mayonnaise
I know that not everyone loves real mayonnaise, but this is not the recipe to try to substitute Miracle Whip for the mayonnaise.
If you’ve been hurt by mayonnaise in the past, try using a good, high-quality mayonnaise like Hellmann’s brand.
Sometimes there is a big difference in product quality between brands, and I think mayonnaise is no exception.
I like Hellmann’s mayonnaise quite a lot, or the Duke’s brand is good as well.
Mix the mayonnaise together with the softened cream cheese and the sour cream for a classic BLT flavor.
🔑 Key to Success #3 – Cook the Bacon Crispy
One easy tip for the best BLT dip ever is to make sure your bacon is cooked up nice and crispy.
This is not the recipe for using limp and soggy bacon.
If you struggle to cook crispy bacon and you have an air fryer, try this easy Air Fryer Bacon recipe.
This is one of my favorite methods to cook bacon because it contains all the mess and grease splatter.
After the bacon is cooked and thoroughly drained, crumble it into bite-sized pieces.
You can also use a sharp knife to chop the bacon up.
Be sure to cook extra bacon to sprinkle on top of your BLT Dip.
I also like to add some additional diced tomatoes on top of the dip.
And you can add lettuce too if you prefer.

Pro Tips
- Use Real Mayonnaise: It makes a big difference in the texture and flavor.
- Soften the Cream Cheese: This makes it much easier to mix everything together.
- Pre-Cook the Bacon: Cook the bacon ahead of time and let it cool; it makes crumbling it much easier.
Serving Suggestions
- With Chips and Crackers: This dip is fantastic served with sturdy chips or crackers that can hold up to its creamy goodness.
- On Bread: Spread it on slices of French bread or crostini for a delicious twist.
- Alongside Veggies: For a fresher take, serve with an assortment of fresh veggies like carrot sticks, celery, and bell pepper strips.
Recipe Variations
- Spicy Kick: Add a diced jalapeño or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some heat.
- Different Cheeses: Try mixing in some mozzarella or pepper jack for a different cheesy flavor.
- Herb Lovers: Add a handful of chopped fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or chives for a fresh burst of flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Turkey bacon can be a great alternative if you’re looking to cut down on pork or fat content. Just make sure it’s cooked crispy and crumbled before adding it to the mix.
Yes, you can prepare the dip up to 24 hours in advance. Simply cover it with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to serve, bake it according to the original instructions, adding an extra 5-10 minutes to the baking time to ensure it’s heated through.
If the dip is too thick, you can thin it out by adding a little bit of milk or cream. Start with a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Freezing isn’t recommended for this dip because the texture of the cream cheese and sour cream can become grainy once thawed. It’s best enjoyed fresh or stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
To make a vegetarian version, simply omit the bacon and add a vegetable protein option like crumbled tempeh bacon or smoked tofu. You could also add extra vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for additional flavor and texture.
Definitely! While sharp cheddar gives a nice tang, you can mix in or substitute other cheeses like mozzarella, pepper jack, or gouda for a different flavor profile.
Get creative! Use it as a filling for stuffed mushrooms, in a football-shaped bread bowl a topping for baked potatoes, or mixed into pasta for a decadent treat. The possibilities are endless!
