BBQ Chicken Wraps with spinach tortilla

Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wraps are one of my favorite menu items to get when we go to Red Robin.

The tender chicken mixed with cheese and crispy tortilla strips create a delicious, flavorful meal.

I love the ranch dressing that is added to the wrap along with the BBQ sauce.

After much research, I’ve recreated this little gem at home.

And you can make it in under 30 minutes with a few tips!

Key to Success #1 – Warm the Chicken Your Way

We love heating up chicken tenders or other convenience meals from the frozen food area in our air fryer.

When you only want to prepare yourself a snack, the air fryer is significantly faster than a conventional oven and doesn’t heat up the entire kitchen.

Because they cook up nice and crispy in the air fryer, I prefer to use Tyson Southern Chicken Tenderloin strips in this recipe.

You can use any type of chicken strips that you like.

Even chicken leftovers are acceptable.

Breaded or grilled chicken would also work perfectly in this recipe.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can microwave the chicken to reheat it.

Although the chicken strip may be less crispy, using the microwave will save you a lot of time if you’re in a hurry.

Key to Success #2 – Slice the Chicken Breast

After you heat up the chicken strips, slice them into 1/2-inch strips.

By slicing the chicken strips, you’ll make it much easier to roll up the tortilla wraps.

In addition, it’ll be much easier to eat the wrap.

Place the chicken strips on a cutting board and use a large knife to slice long strips.

Depending on the size of the chicken breast, you will probably get two or three strips out of each one.

On each spinach tortilla wrap, place three or four strips of the chicken then pile on the rest of the ingredients.

Add the BBQ sauce and ranch dressing right before you roll up your wrap.

Key to Success #3 – Don’t Skip the Crispy Tortilla Strips

The crispy tortilla strips really elevate these chicken wraps to the next level.

They are such a crunchy contrast to the other elements in the wrap.

I use the chipotle-cheddar flavored tortilla strips made by New York Bakery Texas Toast.

You can substitute any type of tortilla strips if you’re not able to find this exact brand.

Don’t skip the tortilla strips though!

They add so much crunch and yummy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 Mission Garden Spinach Herb tortilla wraps
  • 3 Tyson Southern Style Chicken Breast Tenderloins
  • 1/4 cup New York Bakery Texas Toast Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Strips
  • 2 Tbsp shredded lettuce
  • 2 Tbsp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 Tbsp BBQ sauce

  • Once the chicken has heated through, microwave wraps on HIGH power for 15 seconds to soften them and make them easier to roll.
  • Top each wrap with 3 or 4 strips of prepared chicken, half of the tortilla strips, 1 Tbsp of shredded cheese, and 1 Tbsp of shredded lettuce. Drizzle BBQ sauce and ranch dressing on top.
  • Tuck in the sides of each wrap then roll them up. Secure with toothpicks, if desired.

Notes

You can substitute your favorite fried chicken tenders or grilled chicken in this recipe.
Use as much or as little ranch and BBQ sauce as desired.
