Ingredients and Substitutions
To get the most scrumptious results, here’s what you’ll need:
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts: The star of the dish, providing protein and a wonderful texture.
- Black pepper: A dash of spice to enhance the flavours.
- Ranch seasoning: This adds that signature creamy, zesty taste that makes this dish unforgettable!
- Cheddar cheese: I use a generous amount because who doesn’t love melted cheese, right? If you’re looking for a lighter option, reduced-fat cheese works too.
- Cream cheese: This gives the sauce its rich creaminess. For a healthier version, you can substitute with Greek yogurt.
- Chicken broth: A flavourful base that helps tenderise the chicken.
- Bacon pieces: Optional, but bacon brings that smoky crunch that elevates the entire dish.
- Penne pasta: My pasta of choice, but feel free to swap it with your favourite type, like fusilli or rotini.
- Salt: Just a touch to season everything perfectly.
