🔑 Key to Success #1 – Start With A Prepared Crust

The base for this easy strawberry pie recipe is a sturdy crust.

You can either go with a classic pastry crust or a graham cracker crust.

If you’re using a graham cracker crust, you don’t even have to bake it.

But if you choose the pastry crust, most of the time these come refrigerated or frozen, requiring baking at home.

You can follow the directions on the package to bake the crust.

Don’t forget to use a fork to poke holes all around the interior of the pie shell before baking so that the steam can escape.

If you skip this step, your pie crust may bubble up and crack while it’s baking.

Allow the pie crust to cool before adding the delicious strawberry filling.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Cook Until Liquid is Clear

We’re using 7-up to add some extra flavor and sweetness to our strawberry pie recipe.

Before adding the strawberry Jello, bring the 7-Up, sugar, and cornstarch to a boil over medium heat.

Boil the mixture until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is nearly clear.

The liquid will need to boil for about 3 minutes total if you’re using medium heat.

Remove the pot from the stove and stir in the Jello.

Continue stirring until the Jello is completely dissolved.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Face the Strawberries Up

While your Jello mixture is cooling, slice the ripe strawberries for your pie.

Most medium or small berries can be sliced in half.

If the strawberries are large, you may need to slice them into quarters.

The idea is that you want the strawberries to be bite-sized, but not finely diced.

Stir the sliced strawberries into the Jello mixture then pour into the cooled crust.

For a pretty finish, use a fork or a skewer to turn the strawberries so that they are skin-side up in the pie shell.

Having your strawberries’ skin facing up will allow for a uniform look and maximum red color.
