🔑 Key to Success #1 – Get a Package of Christmas Shape Sugar Cookie Dough
Christmas Shape Sugar Cookies are made by Pillsbury and come in all different shapes for the holidays.
They are found in the refrigerated foods section of your local grocery store or big box store.
Sometimes you can find them in a slice-and-bake roll, but most of the time they are pre-sliced.
These cookies are great on their own, but they are just small and underwhelming.
They’re so much better when you add some chocolate chip cookie dough to them.
You can use any shape that you want. I used Christmas Trees and Snowmen, but there are a lot of other options to choose from.
They are always coming out with new designs. I saw some cookies inspired by the Elf Movie this year.
🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use a Roll of Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
For these easy cookies, I like to use a roll of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough just because it is easy and convenient.
If you would prefer, you can make your own chocolate chip cookie dough or use a package of pre-sliced chocolate chip cookie dough.
Slice the roll of chocolate chip cookie dough fairly thin.
If you have a 16-ounce roll of cookie dough, you should be able to slice it into 20 cookies.
Many of the shape sugar cookie packages contain 20 cookies.
So it makes sense to make the same number of slices for the chocolate chip cookies.
Place the chocolate chip cookie dough two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
I like to use AirBake cookie sheets for baking cookies.
They bake up evenly and are naturally non-stick.
🔑 Key to Success #3 – Press ‘Em Down Then Stack ‘Em
This easy recipe is almost too easy for the 3rd key to success.
All you gotta do is stack the little sugar cookie on top of the big chocolate chip cookie and then bake your cookies.
Seriously, it’s that simple.
It doesn’t take a baker to make these cute little cookies.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind though.
First, there is a right way and a wrong way to place the sugar cookies on the baking sheet.
The side with the clearest design goes up.
If there is any streaking in the design, this side should go face down.
Second, do your best to center the sugar cookies on top of the chocolate chip cookie dough.
Wherever you place the sugar cookie is where it will bake into the cookie.
For the best and cleanest look, try to put the sugar cookie in the middle.
It doesn’t have to be perfect though.
And you also don’t have to make the chocolate chip cookie dough into a round shape.
If it’s slightly squared off, it will smooth out while baking.

Christmas Double Decker Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 roll, 16 oz refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
- 1 pkg, 9 oz Pillsbury Christmas shape sugar cookie dough
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Slice chocolate chip cookie dough into 20 even slices. Place dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet
- Place one shape sugar cookie dough onto each slice of chocolate chip cookie dough.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until cookies are lightly browned.
- Cool 1 minute then remove from cookie sheet.
