Softened cream cheese is much easier to work with, and you’ll end up with a much smoother dip as a result.

I recommend using a hand mixer to blend the ingredients together, but you could also use a food processor to make an extra creamy dip base.
Key to Success #2 – Drain the Pineapple
For this dip, you’ll want to use a 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple.
Be sure to drain the pineapple well, but you don’t have to squeeze every drop of moisture out of it.
Use a fine mesh strainer to drain the pineapple juice..
I have an over-the-sink variety, and it works perfectly, although it’s a bit large for storage.
Look for a collapsible colander if you are tight on storage space in your kitchen, like I am.
And don’t forget to collect some of the juice! You will need it in the recipe.
I put a 2-cup glass measuring cup underneath the colander to catch the juice.
You’ll probably drain close to 1 cup of juice from the can, but you’ll only need 1/4 cup of it for this recipe.
The rest can be used in a pineapple upside down cake!
Key to Success #3 – Let It Chill
The Hawaiian Dip is good to eat as soon as it’s mixed up but something special happens when you let it chill in the refrigerator.
The flavors really come together, and that’s when the magic happens.
I’d suggest letting the Hawaiian Dip chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes in an airtight container, but it can be made the night before and left to chill overnight too.
Before serving, just give it a quick stir, and you are ready to go.

Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 Tbsp sour cream
- 20 oz can crushed pineapple, drained, juice reserved
- ¼ cup pineapple juice
- 1 cup chopped ham
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 2.8 oz bacon pieces
- 2 Tbsp green onion, chopped
Directions
- Use electric mixer to combine cream cheese, sour cream, and pineapple juice until smooth.
- Stir in crushed pineapple, cheddar cheese, ham, bacon pieces and green onions.
- Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve with assorted crackers or pretzels.
Notes
- Try replacing sour cream with low-fat sour cream or Greek yogurt
