Why I Love This Recipe
This Spider Web Cookie Cake not only looks impressive, but it’s also incredibly simple to make.
I love being able to create something that looks like a labor of love without spending hours in the kitchen.
The combination of gooey chocolate chip cookie dough and smooth white frosting is simply irresistible.

It’s the perfect centerpiece for any Halloween dessert table!
Ingredients & Substitutions
The best part about this recipe is that it uses minimal ingredients that you likely have on hand.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough: The star of this dessert! I often reach for my favorite brand, but homemade dough works just as well if you’re feeling adventurous.
- White frosting: This is key for achieving that spooky white base. I sometimes make my own buttercream frosting for an extra special touch, but store-bought saves time!
- Black decorating icing: Essential for creating the spider web design. You could also use melted chocolate or a homemade chocolate ganache if you’d like a twist.
- Halloween sprinkles: These add festive flair and a touch of fun. Feel free to use any seasonal sprinkles you have on hand!

How to Make a Spider Web Cookie Cake For Halloween
Bringing this spooky delight to life is easier than you think!
Here’s how you do it:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- Press the cookie dough into a round cookie/pizza pan and bake for 18-20 minutes until the edges are lightly browned.
- Once baked, allow the cookie to cool completely.
- Remove the lid and foil from the can of white frosting, microwave it for about 30 seconds until pourable, then stir well. Pour it over the cooled cookie and spread evenly.
- With your black decorating icing, draw a spiral on top of the frosted cookie. Using a skewer, drag the icing outward to form the spider web effect.
- Add Halloween sprinkles around the edges for extra flair! For a real scare, pop a plastic spider on top!

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Use a Disposable Pizza Pan
In order to create a ridiculously good spooky spider web cookie cake, there are a few key secrets that will take your masterpiece to the next level.
The first key to success is using a disposable pizza pan.
Now, you might be wondering why a pizza pan is the secret ingredient in this recipe.
Well, the truth is, using a disposable pizza pan not only makes the baking process a breeze, but it also adds a touch of convenience to your Halloween preparations.
With a disposable pan, you won’t have to worry about scrubbing away stubborn cookie crumbs or dealing with the hassle of cleaning up after your spooky creation is devoured.
Not only that, but a disposable pizza pan is the perfect size for creating a spider web shape.
Its large surface area provides ample space for the web design to come to life, while still allowing the cookie cake to bake evenly.
Plus, the thin and lightweight material of the pan ensures that your cookie cake will turn out perfectly crispy on the edges and soft in the center.
By using a disposable pizza pan, you can easily mold and shape the cookie dough, allowing you to craft the ultimate spider web design.
Whether you’re a seasoned baker or just starting out, this key to success will make the process seamless and stress-free.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Refrigerated Cookie Dough Makes It Easy!
Using refrigerated cookie dough not only saves you time but also ensures that you have a perfectly balanced and delicious base for your spider web cookie cake.
It takes away the need to measure and mix ingredients, allowing you to focus on the fun part – decorating.
The great thing about premade cookie dough is that it is readily available in most grocery stores.
You can find various flavors, from classic chocolate chip to sugar cookie, which gives you the freedom to choose the one that suits your taste buds and the theme of your Halloween party.
We used refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough, but you can easily swap out a different flavor in this easy recipe.
The amount of cookie dough is also extremely forgiving.
This recipe works with anywhere between 30 to 36 ounces of cookie dough.
Simply press the cookie dough into the disposable pizza pan and then bake according to the recipe.
Now that you have your premade cookie dough, it’s time to get creative with the design.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Black Icing For The Spider Web
When it comes to creating a truly show-stopping spider web cookie cake, the secret lies in the details.
And that’s where the black icing comes in.
The black icing not only adds a touch of spookiness to your creation but also serves as the foundation for your intricate spider web design.
To make the spider web, we’re using pre-made black decorator icing.
You can find this product sold in tubes at your local grocery store or craft store.
It’s great because it’s the perfect consistency for piping shapes and designs on your cookie cake.
To apply the black icing, start by outlining the shape of the spider web. Begin at the center and work your way outwards, creating a spiral.
The size of your cookie cake will determine how many circles you’ll need, but typically three to four is a good range.
Once you’ve outlined the circles, use a toothpick or skewer to create an intricate pattern that mimics the look of a spider web.
Simply place your skewer into the black icing at the center and drag it toward the outside of your cookie cake.
Repeat this step 6-8 times around the cookie until you are happy with the design.
Now, it’s time for the star of the show – the spooky spider.
No spider web cookie cake is complete without its eight-legged visitor.
You can grab a plastic spider at your local craft store or dollar store.
Easy peasy!
Oh, and don’t forget to add pretty black, white and orange Halloween sprinkles all around the outside edges of your cookie cake!
