Why You’ll Love This Leftover Spaghetti Bake

Ingredients You’ll Need
Let me break down the magic that goes into this recipe:
- Your favorite spaghetti recipe with sauce: Whether it’s meat sauce or meatballs, this forms the base of our dish.
- Italian seasoning: Adds a burst of classic Italian flavors.
- Eggs: Acts as a binder to keep the bake together.
- Butter: Adds richness and moisture.
- Grated Parmesan: Provides a salty, flavorful kick.
- Cheddar Cheese: Melts beautifully on top for that irresistible cheesy finish.
Feel free to substitute mozzarella for cheddar if you prefer.
If your spaghetti has little sauce, a bit of added water can help keep things moist.

Creating this dish is super straightforward, perfect for busy weeknights:
- Prep Your Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Mix It Up: Combine your leftover spaghetti with the sauce, Italian seasoning, eggs, melted butter, and Parmesan in a large bowl.

- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Cheesy Finish: Remove the foil, sprinkle with shredded cheddar, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Recipe Variations
Get creative with this recipe! Add cooked sausage or mushrooms for extra flavor, or swap out the cheddar for mozzarella or a mix of both.
You can even throw in some chopped spinach or other greens for added nutrition.
It would be a mistake if I didn’t mention that you can make this dish with fresh pasta as well.
I’d suggest using a half-pound of cooked pasta noodles (does not have to be spaghetti!) and a jar of prepared sauce.
I prefer the Prego Traditional pasta sauce, but you can use your favorite variety or even homemade spaghetti sauce.

I make this recipe now (for leftovers) almost every time I make a big dish of spaghetti!! It is so good, and it keeps you from wasting all that delicious spaghetti!! Thank you so much! It’s my go to recipe for spaghetti bake.
Great idea for leftover spaghetti. Loved it. Had for dinner two nights in a row. Will definitely mke again.

The recipe is very simple and straightforward. I like it..

That actually sounds delicious!
This was very, very good. Only thing I did different was add a mix of ricotta, egg and parsley. The layered like lasagna.
I wanted to let you know that I literally laughed out loud when you asked “Does anyone still call it tin foil?”. That would be me! My husband picks on me about it all the time. Hahaha
I had a ton of left over spaghetti. I prepared it in the pressure cooker together with the sauce. The noodles were a little mushy but I hate throwing away food, so reluctantly, we were going to eat it again. I found this recipe and it saved the spaghetti! I followed it mostly as written except I used basil, oregano, and thyme ILO of Italian seasoning since I didn’t have any. I also used mozzarella since that’s what I had on hand. I also threw in two large handfuls of baby spinach just to sneak in some greens. It was delicious! We only ate half of it and we liked it so much we froze the rest for a third meal. Very quick, easy, and good!
BTW, I used my phone for finding and reading the recipe. No problem. The recipe was easy to find in the page and the display was great. I didn’t find it cluttered with ads as others have mentioned.
This was great as my base. I used left over spaghetti that came with our Eggplant Parm from a restaurant… and diced up a couple piece of the eggplant, added a little sausage. Everything else was by the recipe and this was delicious.
If I have leftovers how might I go about reheating this?
With pretty much any casserole, I slice a square of the casserole and remove it to a microwave-safe plate using a spatula. Then I cut the square of casserole in quarters and spread them apart from each other a smidge then microwave on high power until they are heated through. Having smaller pieces helps the meal reheat more evenly and also faster.
Hi, should I warm the left over spaghetti a little first?
It would definitely speed up the process to warm it up a bit. Not required though!
Can’t see the recipe for all the ads!
What browser are you using? Or which app? I just checked and I can see the recipe, both the ingredients and the instructions.
@Jennifer, I can’t see it on safari on a mac, but I can on Chrome and on my phone. I will say – I know you deserve to be compensated for all your hard work, but YIKES this is a LOT of ads… Even on chrome, it’s pretty cluttered and slow and the page skips up and down all the time. Not the best user experience… But, I am making this tonight and I know it’ll be delish!
Thank you for letting me know this. I will get my technical people to look at this and see if they can get it working on Safari.
We were able to find and fix the issue that was causing the recipe cards to disappear in the Safari browser! Thank you again for pointing out this issue to me.
@Jennifer, I take it back! I tried just now to get the recipe on my iphone as I make it, and I’m back on my computer because there are too many ads covering the ingredients and recipe.
I have not tried this yet. Just wondering what the egg does for the recipe??
The egg works to bind the ingredients together more like a traditional casserole. If you’d like, you can leave it out.
How much spaghetti do you need for this dish?
This recipe is very forgiving as far as the amount of spaghetti goes. I would say as long as you have enough for 3-6 servings of spaghetti, then you are good to go. Hope this helps!
I made this recipe and my family loved it! I am going to make it again tonight. Great way to use leftovers!
I made this recipe and my family loved it! Such a great way to use up leftover spaghetti.
Awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe.
Hey, this was a wonderful way to dress up leftover sketti! I added a layer of ricotta in the middle. (Should have mixed it with an egg as well.) It added a lazagnaish flavor.
Ohhh that sounds really good! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@Jennifer, i have never tried this but i am tonight hunband is picky about leftovers we will see lol
Kelly, I hope it turns out great and that the hubby loves it! You can’t go wrong with spaghetti with a bunch of cheese on top. Am I right?
