When we visit the farm to see my parents, we often have a family bonfire one night.

They have a large smokeless Solo fire pit that is big enough for all of us to sit around.

We’ll cook hotdogs over the fire and have chips and dips on the patio.

Then come the roasted marshmallows and the yummy s’mores.

We like to come up with inventive ways to make the best s’mores.

Oven S'Mores Dip

🔑 Key to Success #1 – Milk Chocolate Chips for Authentic Flavor

Classic s’mores are made with Hershey’s chocolate bars that are made with milk chocolate so milk chocolate chips are most appropriate for this recipe.

You can use semi-sweet chocolate chips, but milk chocolate will give you the most authentic flavor for your s’mores dip.

You can use chopped-up chocolate bars if you’d prefer.

I normally use chocolate chips because that is what I have on hand.

And I have used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate chips plenty of times and nobody notices the difference.

Skillet S'Mores Dip in a pan

Spread the chocolate chips into the bottom of an oven-proof skillet, such as cast iron.

I use a 10-inch cast iron skillet to make this s’mores dip.

A stainless steel skillet would work well with this recipe too.

You could make individual servings in ramekins if you don’t like to share your dessert.

We have a set of colorful ramekins that are perfect for this easy dessert dip.

Everyone can have their own little treat.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use Large Marshmallows

Of course, you can use miniature marshmallows if you have them on hand, but the large marshmallows really scream “s’mores!”

Stand the marshmallows up on their ends on top of the chocolate chips to make a beautiful toasty top.

The marshmallows are my favorite part of this dip so I like to use as many as I can fit in the skillet.

The best toasted marshmallows are the ones that are toasty on the top and fully melted all the way through.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Broil Then Turn Off The Oven

Set your oven to the broil setting if you have one.

When you use the broiler setting, it turns on the burners at the top of the stove to a high temperature.

The broiler is used to toast food so it’s perfect for toasting the marshmallows on our s’mores dip.

We’ll only leave the skillet of s’mores dip under the broiler until the marshmallows start to get browned and toasty.

This should only take 2-3 minutes depending on your oven.

After the marshmallows are toasted, turn off the oven and leave the skillet in the warm oven for about 5 minutes.

The extra time in the warm oven will allow the chocolate chips to fully melt.

And the marshmallows will get nice and gooey all the way through.

This is what makes this s’mores dip extraordinary!

You do not want to miss this one.

Smores Skillet Dip

🔑 Key to Success #4 – Graham Cracker Sticks

For a super authentic s’mores dip, you’ve got to serve it with graham crackers.

Break the graham crackers into sticks for each dipping and less messy cleaning.

I say less messy because I always tend to get the chocolate and marshmallows all over me when I’m enjoying this dip.

No shame in my game. I love marshmallows and I love this dip.

When we serve the S’mores Dip in the skillet, we all just grab a few graham cracker sticks and dig in.

It’s one of our favorite desserts, especially during the cold winter months.
