🔑 Key to Success #1 – Soften the Butter
One crucial element in achieving the perfect chocolate chip air fryer cookies is ensuring that your butter is softened to the right consistency.
Softened butter is easier to cream with both the white sugar and light brown sugar, allowing the simple ingredients to blend together smoothly and evenly in a mixing bowl.
To soften your butter, simply let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until it becomes soft and pliable to the touch.
Using melted butter is often a go-to shortcut, but it can yield a flatter and greasier cookie.
Softened butter, on the other hand, creates a more tender and melt-in-your-mouth texture that will have everyone begging for seconds.

🔑 Key to Success #2 – Use the Properly Sized Pan
Using a properly sized pan ensures that the pan cookies are the perfect thickness and have enough space to expand while baking.
If the pan is too small, the dough may be overcrowded, resulting in cookies that are too thick and doughy.
On the other hand, if the pan is too large, the dough may spread too thin and result in cookies that are thin and crispy.
For air fryer chocolate chip cookies, a pan with a diameter of 6 to 7 inches is generally recommended.
This size allows for optimal airflow around each pan cookie, promoting even baking and preventing any unwanted hotspots.
But be sure to make sure that your pan will fit in the basket of the air fryer if you have a basket-style air fryer.

Pizookies in the Air Fryer
An easy way to make cookies in the Air Fryer is to make them in a shallow baking pan.
That makes this a Pizookie – a Pizza Cookie. A Cookie in a Pizza Pan.
The pan is probably about 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep.
It worked perfectly for this Air Fryer Cookie Recipe.
I have also used an 8-inch cake pan and it works great as well.
The 8-inch cake pan fits perfectly in my air fryer too, but check your air fryer to see if it will work for you.

🔑 Key to Success #3 – Watch the Baking Time
When it comes to baking perfect cookies in an air fryer, timing is everything.
Unlike a traditional oven, air fryers tend to cook food faster due to the rapid circulation of hot air.
Therefore, it’s essential to keep a close eye on your cookies to avoid overbaking or underbaking them.
The recommended baking time for air fryer chocolate chip cookies is around 10 to 12 minutes.
However, every air fryer is different, so it’s important to understand your specific model’s nuances.
Experimenting with a few test batches can help you determine the optimal baking time for your air fryer and desired pan cookie texture.

To begin, start by setting the timer for the lower end of the suggested baking time range, around 10 minutes.
Monitor the cookies closely as they bake.
Look for visual cues such as the edges turning golden brown and the center rising slightly.
If you prefer a chewier cookie, you may want to remove them from the air fryer closer to the 8-minute mark.
On the other hand, if you enjoy a crisper, more golden cookie, you can leave them in the air fryer for the full 12 minutes.
Keep in mind that the cookies will continue to firm up slightly as they cool, so it’s better to slightly underbake them if you prefer a softer texture.

🍪 Nothing Basic About This Cookie
I used my favorite Cookie Cake recipe for the basis for this Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.
The best cookies are made with room-temperature butter, not melted butter.
I’m just saying.
Then I took this wonderful cookie recipe and added chocolate chunks.
I had chocolate chips, but who doesn’t love the big chunks.
You can use chocolate chips, add nuts, substitute peanut butter chips or even white chocolate chips.
Go ahead and make these cookies your favorite.

💡 Tips and Tricks for Perfectly Golden Cookies
These additional insights will help you take your air fryer cookie game to the next level, ensuring each batch comes out with a golden, crispy exterior and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center.
- Use the right temperature: Each air fryer has its own temperature settings, so it’s crucial to preheat the air fryer to the recommended temperature for baking cookies. This will ensure even cooking and prevent any unnecessary under or over-baking.
- Line the cookie pan with parchment: Using a small piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the pan will help prevent the cookies from sticking and make removal much easier. This step is not necessary if you are planning to serve the cookie in the pan like a pizookie.
- Rotate the tray or basket: Air fryers can have hot spots, so to ensure all your cookies get that golden touch, rotate the tray or basket during baking. This will help distribute the heat evenly and produce more consistent results.
By following these tips and tricks, you’ll have a better chance of creating perfectly golden air fryer chocolate chip cookies that taste as heavenly as they look.
Experiment, adjust, and don’t be afraid to personalize your baking process.
I’d suggest checking your pan cookie after 10 minutes and then adding 2-3 minutes if needed because an underbaked chocolate chip cookie is the last thing you’d want.

❓ Can you use Refrigerated Cookie Dough in this recipe?
When it comes to using refrigerated cookie dough in this easy air fryer cookies recipe, it is possible to do so, with a few adjustments.
Firstly, it is essential to preheat the air fryer before placing the cookie dough into the air fryer basket for this small batch recipe.
Preheating helps to ensure that the cookies cook evenly and that the dough does not stick to the pan.
Additionally, flatten the cookie dough in the pan before placing it in the air fryer for best results, as this helps the cookies bake consistently.
Finally, the cooking time may need to be adjusted depending on the air fryer’s wattage and the thickness of the cookie dough.
I’ve found success with the Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookies in place of the homemade cookie dough in this recipe, but you’d have to experiment with other cookie dough brands.

Hello can you substitute the butter with olive oil?
Jennifer
Sunday 8th of January 2023
I wouldn't recommend substituting butter with olive oil. The butter and sugar need to be creamed together well to get some air into your cookie. I think you would not get the same result with olive oil. Sorry.

Love this idea, but is it really 1,100 calories per serving?! That can't be right???

The 1,100 calories is for a whole pan cookie! You can split each pan cookie into 4 servings or even 6 servings if you have decent self control! ?

Great recipe! The only thing is that it was super brown on the outside and raw on the inside. I don’t know if I should lower the temperature and cook longer... (we still ate it all gooey.)

I think this sometimes happens when the pan is too small. There is too much batter and it doesn’t have time to fully cook through. I would try lowering the temp and cooking a bit longer. Or cook the dough in batches.
