Easy Oven Meatballs

Easy Oven Meatballs are super simple and oh so flavorful. They are perfect for making your meatball mountain or using in your favorite family dishes. I’m sharing all the keys to success so that you can make these meatballs for your family too.

Bowl of Meatballs

Key to Success #1 – Use Meat with Some Fat In It

These Oven Meatballs are so easy to make.

They start with a pound of ground beef and a pound of ground pork.

Look for meat that is about 10-15% fat total.

Easy Meatballs

You can use lean ground beef if you would like but be sure to get ground pork with some fat in it. Or vice versa.

You want some fat in your meat so that your meatballs will turn out nice and tender.

If you’d prefer, you can use all beef in these meatballs as well.

I prefer a combination of beef and pork but as long as you have a decent amount of fat in your meat, they should be perfect either way.

Key to Success #2 – Finely Dice the Onions

These Oven Meatballs cook quickly in the oven. They are fully cooked through in about 18 minutes.

Because of the short cook time, you’ll want to make sure you cut up your onions finely so that they will soften by the time the meatballs are cooked.

All you need to dice the onions is a sharp knife and a cutting board.

I like to use a Santoku knife when I’m cutting all but the most delicate vegetables.

The hollow edge blade has little indentions so that food doesn’t stick to the knife while you’re cutting your food. It’s genius – a real time-saver.

Key to Success #3 – Do Not Overmix

The secret to really tender meatballs is to mix all the ingredients until they are just combined and not a minute more.

Just through all the ingredients into a large bowl and use your hands or a large wooden spoon to stir the ingredients together.

It’s important to make meatballs that are all the same size as well.

I always use my medium cookie scoop to form meatballs that are consistently sized.

I scoop the meatball with the cookie scoop then use my hands to gently roll them into a ball.

It really couldn’t be easier.
